It is quite easy to make molds that can be used with polymer clay. It can however be quite intimidating to use the amazing mould making food grade silicone putty for the very first time. You therefore need to make sure you have studied and understood the basics. There are a number of pointers that can also be very helpful.

In any creation process, there are various steps that have to be followed from beginning to end. The first steps is to ensure the mold is mixed and measured correctly. Where individuals are using many colored putties, they will need to measure the same amount across all the available putties.

Take your putties and roll them in to several balls. You will then need to roll the balls between your hands in to your hands in order to eliminate all the creases that could be present. Apply some pressure on the balls and this will make it much easier to use it.

Once the putty balls have been created, the individual will then need to proceed to the next stage which is the molding and setting phase. Rather than use a regular paper, one should consider using wax paper. Wax papers are the best as the putties will not stick on to it.

From the molding and setting phase, always make sure you do not throw away the excess material. This can always be molded in to something else. This must however be done as soon as possible as you only have five minutes before it becomes unusable.

When molding is completed, the completed project should be left in a location where it cannot be tampered with. The package holding you putties will usually have a set of instructions on how long they should be left undisturbed. Follow the directions in order to get the best results.

After it has been fully set, you can now tweak and use the mold as desired. The putty can be cut with scissors or knives used in crafts in order to properly clean up the uneven edges. Where there is a thin spot, one can always patch it using more putties.

A mold can be used to make a wide variety of items. There are those that use it to make textures, buttons or even hand crafted items. When in the process of using the molds, ensure you do not infringe on any copyright laws as this might land you in to trouble.
