Car Wraps: Where Does Smell Come Into Marketing?

Marketing, in the typical sense, is a method that is able to bring sight into effect more so than anything else. This is especially true for car wraps, which I believe to be some of the most effective items for the sake of bringing awareness to any product. However, up until this point, sight was the only aspect brought into effect. What if I were to tell you that scent could be utilized in order to bolster the impact that marketing in general can prove to be?

JMR Graphics, along with other authorities on the matter, can tell you that sight is important when it comes to marketing in general. The Drum posted an article that spoke about a potato-scented taxi that would be put to use for the sake of advertising on the part of the company called McCain Potatoes. Car wraps, for those who do not know, are consistently utilized since they are dependable for attracting attention to a brand. However, the ide of scent in addition to sight is one that be even more engaging.

With this taxi set in place, you may be curious about its objective is apart from the marketing efforts as spoken about before. The article said that the taxi would be driving around different areas, ranging from London to Manchester. For a period of five minutes, the cab would offer free rides to people off of the street; during this time, the car would emit the scent of oven baked jacket potato. If it's a matter of creating awareness for a brand, McCain Potatoes has more than knocked the idea out of the park.

You want to be able to go about marketing in the best of ways and being able to incorporate something unique can help tremendously. The reason that I say this is because scents, in general, are easily some of the most potent and not just in the way that one might assume. It's clear that marketing in general has to breed results. Seeing as how McCain Potatoes was able to create a system that deviates from the norm, I'm sure that said results will surface.

I couldn't help but liken this method to the Chocolate World Tour from Hersheypark. This ride would bring you through the various stages of the chocolate-making process but throughout the ride, the passengers can pick up on the scent of said chocolate as well. It's easy to draw a comparison to McCain Potatoes, especially when it seems as though very few brands are able to bring more than the sense of sight into effect. If nothing else, I believe that this can be looked back on as a remarkable experiment.
