The Makeup Do's & Don'ts, With Christina Kelly

By Rebecca Mills

Wearing makeup is one of those endeavors that one immediately associates with style. Christina Kelly and others can attest to this sentiment, but one has to wonder what makes this process so worthwhile. In other words, are there right and wrong ways to go about wearing anything from blush to lipstick? For those who are curious to learn as much about makeup as possible, here are a few of the do's and don'ts for budding fashion enthusiasts to note.

Do consider the proper foundation. According to Christina Kelly, one of the most important factors of makeup is the foundation used. All it takes is a single trip to a store to see just how many variations exist. These will work with different skin tones, meaning that you have to be careful about which one is used. Even though this is just one element of makeup to consider, it serves as one of the finest building blocks for the greater picture.

Don't forget to bring powder into the mix. One of the reasons why powder matters - and Christina DiMauro Kelly will attest to this - is how well it can help oily skin. When someone has a greater degree of skin moisture than necessary, it shows from the outside, resulting in a sense of shine that isn't the most appealing to the eye. This is where powder comes into effect, as it can conceal the shine in question. As long as you choose the option that suits your tone best, your complexion will be better off.

Do select the right lipstick. When it comes to choosing lipstick, there's a level of care to be exercised. The reason for this is that you might choose a color that doesn't go well with the tone of your lips. Instead of creating a clashing appearance with this accessory, focus on finding lipstick that matches the natural hue of your lips, at least to some degree. Suffice it to say, this will only help you receive a greater understanding of how to wear makeup.

Don't become so easily discouraged. Even though makeup application can be rewarding, it isn't without its potential faults. Those who are new to this endeavor run the risk of making a mistake or two, which means that you should be open to learning. You should be able to recognize what you did wrong in the past, so that better choices can be made in the future. Even though applying makeup can be challenging at the start, only by learning can you improve.
