A great way to connect people to your site is by including keywords in your URLs. Some URLs contain number and symbols instead of words, which does nothing to help humans or search engines categorize your site. If necessary, get rid of the non-descript numbers, and change your URL format so that it uses two or three keywords.

Before you even bother with trying to get your site ranked, you first have to build a great website. All online businesses should begin with this idea. If you start with a well-functioning, visually appealing site, you'll have a solid foundation that will require less effort to upgrade later.

To make sure visitors click your banners, don't use them in excess. A site filled with banners will have a high bounce rate, and visitors who do stay will be reluctant to click. Choose only a few banners and spread them out throughout your site so that they're not overwhelming. This will give your site a professional look and increase your clickthrough rate.

Create a FAQ on your site. For each question or issue, offer a thoughtful answer, and mention products that you sell as a solution when appropriate. Write the questions so that your products are the answers without making it look like obvious product placement.

You can improve your internet marketing by starting a blog and posting to it frequently. A high-quality blog that you add content to on a regular basis gives you another way to connect with potential customers. In addition, you will eventually attract more visitors to your website because you are, in effect, expanding the reach of your website and increasing your search engine rating.

While keywords are very important, and you will want to use as many of them as you can in your site, beware of using too many as well. Search engine spiders are programmed to ignore sites that literally "stuff" their pages with keywords in order to be found. They are marked as spammers and actually show up lower in the search results or not at all.

Learn that improvements can always be made. Just because you think your website looks perfect, does not mean that it is. Look at competitor pages to see how and why they are showcasing their products and try to one-up them. Although customers are obviously not going to be your equal partners in a business venture, you still need to treat them as if they are your equals. This is something that's hard to do online, but your Internet marketing efforts should focus on making your customers feel as if they're part of your business and not just the fuel that keeps it running.

Any successful business venture needs to be clearly defined, and this is especially true when marketing online. If searchers do not know what your business or site is about, the odds of them actually finding it are slim to none. How would anyone find your product if it's not defined for them? Remember to be specific.

Consider giving discount coupons or exclusive special offers to customers after their first purchase through your website. This is an excellent internet marketing tactic for encouraging repeat business. It offers customers something of undeniable value - but only if they return to buy from you again. You can make more money and make your customers happy!

As you build and market your brand online, find ways to create a unified image that extends to your logo, website, packaging and advertisements. A continuous color palette and consistent font usage, can make your brand and products appear more professional, reputable and legitimate. Do not include neon or clashing colors in your marketing materials, simply because they are attention-grabbing. Include them, only if they are part of your total "look".
