By Kathleen Bennett

Mold is kind of fungus which grows often and forming a multicellular filament called the hyphae. Having a discoloration and having a fuzzy appearance is a result of a hyphae. So there is a need for understanding the problems, such as problems in moisture and water. The source of moisture should also be considered. Hiring representatives can be done for them to help you out in locating the source of the moisture.

Second is documenting the problems and creating plans for remediation. Before the start of remediation, having a documentation is important. It may be done through videos, writing, or photos. The documentation is used by representatives supervisor for developing plans. The plans typically include the people who will perform the processes, deciding if homeowners are relocated or not, start and end schedules, and testing plans.

Third is calculating contamination extents. A mold does not grow to only one area, but it is capable of growing bigger and bigger, thus, contaminating other areas. The process would impact the mold removal and clean up approach. A remediation goal is clean up molds which are continuously growing and also, avoiding exposure of the homeowners to it.

There are guidelines in which some organizations have developed. These are guidelines that are being used mostly for construction industries. These have recommendation along with six levels of remediation. These are according to the square footages of a mold or whether molds are seen in HVAC systems or not.
