The WWE Network & Assessment From An Online Marketing Firm

When the WWE Network launched on February 24th of this year, it goes without saying that there were many expectations afterwards. How many people would wind up subscribing by the year's end? Would the WWE Network even make back the money that World Wrestling Entertainment put into the endeavor to begin with? These are fair points to make and, in my view, any online marketing firm would be able to offer its own insights into the topic in question. How exactly did the WWE Network stack up since February?

Los Angeles Time posted an article about the WWE Network and how, as of this moment, it was able to garner around 667,287 subscribers. It's important to keep in mind that WWE said that it would have to reach one million subscribers by the end of 2014 in order to ensure that it would, at least, break even. While this may seem troubling, there are other factors that an online marketing firm would be able to bring to the surface. Reputable firms such as fishbat can tell you that, as of this moment, the WWE Network is only available in the United States.

Another point that an online marketing firm might bring up is that it is heavily promoted on WWE's weekly shows. It's not of the question to tune into an episode of RAW on Monday night and be met with, at least, one commercial touting the many features of the WWE Network. This is a smart move because it will allow WWE to target its most important audience: the wrestling fans. In fact, one can make the argument that the newer wrestling fans are most vital.

Nostalgia is, in my view, an aspect that should not be overlooked by any means. The WWE Network has recognized this, which is why the streaming service in question allows the many subscribers access to an entire back catalog of older shows from WWE in addition to wrestling companies that are no longer active. Fans of wrestling promotions from the past will be able to benefit quite a bit from the WWE Network. What this shows is that the service is one of most extensive that can be imagined.

The question remains, though: can the WWE Network reach one million subscribers before the end of 2014? I think that once the service is launched in other areas of the world, the previously stated statistic will balloon, especially when given the fact that WWE is an international entity with fans all over the world. The WWE Network itself is capable and it boasts a tremendous amount of content for the asking price of $9.99 a month. Time will tell if the goal of one million is reached.
