How To Make A Video For Your Business

By Rose Marie D'Amico

I grew up making online marketing videos with my parent's camcorder. Back then, it wasn't easy. I had a clunky 12 pound camera, no digital recording, and I had to do my editing by connecting to VCR's together...no joke.

Today, it's a bit easier. And the technology we have today has allowed me to raise-the-bar on the quality of my videos (using tool like my iPhone!) and help me generate over 1.7 Million views just on my YouTube Channel.

So whether you are an online entrepreneur, local business owner, author or coach, you can start making quick and easy videos with these simple steps.

First, you need to identify the OBJECTIVE of your video. What's the point or goal? What are you measuring? Traffic? Leads?

What do you want to accomplish? Identify this first, and it will become much easier to make your video a reality.

Step #2: Script it.

When you have an outline, it's time to record! Any video camera will do...as long as it's HD quality. We've used iPhones, GoPRO's, dSLRs, and handycams. The best camera is the one that you will actually use.

Make sure to grab a tripod, and properly lighting so your video looks more professional.

Now that you know WHAT you want to say in your video, it's time to film it. Any camera will do...as long as it's HD quality. In fact, the iPhone 5s (or higher) is a fantastic option for the DIY videographer! Get the necessary equipment, (tripod, lighting, etc) and you are ready to make your video.

It will save sooo much time and money!

The next step is to edit your original footage. The software I recommend is Screenflow (Mac only). If you're on a PC, I recommend Sony Vegas or Camtasia. Editing is ery time-consuming, so if you can: outsource the editing! It will save sooo much time and money!

Step #5: Broadcast it!

YouTube.com is probably your best bet. It's a great place to start, and you have the opportunity to get massive amount of views from your video...if you optimize it properly.

Take the time to give your youtube video a proper title, description and tags so you optimize it for a highly searched keyword or keyword phrase.

And the final step: REPEAT. Having just one video out there for the world to see is NEVER enough. The more the better. This way, more people have more of a chance to find you within YouTube and Google. So, consistency is the key.

Get to work!
