The Importance of Skin Hydration on the Process Of aging

By Andrea Hamilton

When people think about the causes behind their wrinkles, they regularly think of culprits like sun damage or diminishing collagen levels. While these reasons are certainly to blame for their decent share of wrinkles, the fact is that there's no one single cause which isn't only more common, but is also overlooked far too frequently. This is dehydration.

We should understand that without correct skin hydration, not only will our body struggle to supply the proteins and enzymes relevant to maintain a more youthful appearance. But the truth that our skin is dried out can actually make the damaging end results of dehydration rather more perceivable.

While water may not be instantly the reason for filling in our wrinkles, it is responsible for balancing loads of the processes which our skin is dependent on to stay firm and full.

In one case, for the body to process the proteins that we eat and ultimately create new collagen, our body should first be adequately hydrated. Since water is used for lots of other processes across the body as well which are far more urgent to our survival than a young looking complexion, a neglecting to drink the right volume of water each day will probably show up in our face first.

Proper skin hydration is also critical when we talk about the absorption of topical products which we may use in order to battle the symptoms of ageing. This is the cause why it is generally suggested that you apply a base layer of moisturiser before applying any other products, including your sun protection formula or makeup. Since these products can oftentimes rob our skin of moisture all throughout the day, it is also commended that you apply a fresh layer of moisturizing cream at the day's end once all other products have been removed from your skin.
