The Do's And Don'ts Of Long Island Advertising On Tumblr

By Rob Sutter

For those that are looking to market on social media, there are many platforms to consider. Tumblr is nothing short of unique, but don't let its presentation fool you. There is a certain strategy that's needed in order to appeal to the user base that uses this platform. For Long Island advertising agencies, creating the strategy in question and carrying through with it is essential. Here are the do's and don'ts of advertising on Tumblr that will lead to progress.

DO position yourself as a content creator. Content is part and parcel of the social media experience, but this is especially true when it comes to Tumblr. There is a bevy of long-form blogs, videos, and GIF sets that make this platform stand out from the rest. In order to promote oneself on this site - and the likes of fishbat will agree - position yourself as a content creator first. Your success in the business world won't matter as much to the site's younger crowd.

DON'T let your content go untagged. To further advertise yourself on Tumblr, make use of tags. These are found at the bottom of every Tumblr post and relate back to the content being shown. Furthermore, they will make the content searchable for you and your user base. If you include tags that simply aren't relevant to what you write, not only will your work be less searchable but your account may not be in the best standing.

DO respond to those that reach out. One of the other defining traits of Tumblr is the ability to send "asks," which are direct messages that you can answer directly or publish on your account. Regardless of what you opt for, there are numerous benefits of doing so. You will be able to keep in touch with your user base, but the fact that it may bring additional content to your page can't be denied either. As we've covered earlier, content is king.

DON'T forget to check the competition. Do you feel like you're not seeing much success on Tumblr, but your competition is? In this scenario, it would make sense to evaluate the competition, seeing what they have to offer. You shouldn't emulate everything that they do, but instead focus on their strengths. This will allow you to work on your weaknesses, thereby enhancing your presence on this social media platform.
