Marvel Action Figures Are All Very Special

By Olivia Cross

Every girl and some boys have played with dolls in their growing up years whether they want to admit it or not. The word doll at times can be referred to as marvel action figures much to those in the know- how's total dismay. Any collector will argue that that is not correct. Many are still unsure as to the definition of these different figures.

One will need to place one of these next to a doll or figurine and see them all together. All figurines are normally small and sculpted with painted faces of certain characters. These have no moving parts at all. They cannot be posed and are generally moulded onto a base to keep them upright. Their sizes can range from six millimetres to six inches and if they are any larger are usually classified as statues.

The beginnings of this company started in 1923 with two brothers who were selling textile bits and pieces. As the years progressed they extended to making different school supplies as well as pencil cases. Three years after the founding of the company one brother left for another material company and the other, Henry took over. As the prices of producing pencils and pencil cases grew it was decided to make their own pencils and this became their source for future financial support.

Action figures must have a certain amount of attitude to them and these are generally referred to as points of communication. They can be moved into many different positions and have many interchangeable accessories. Many collectors argue that they must be able to move the head and both shoulders. Their sizes can range from three inches to eleven inches and are only made from moulded plastic. This includes their clothes and any other addition.

Many collectors will argue that the G. I Joe figures can be classified as action or as a doll, as the first one stood about twelve inches in height and the clothes could be removed and interchanged. It was originally designed so that boys could also have a "doll" to play with. In the end if one wishes to collect any of the above it will all depend on which makes one feel the happiest.

Every collector will tell one that it is a very rewarding and extremely fun hobby. It makes one feel like a child again and will bring back great memories of favourite movies, comic books and even television shows. One must however buy very carefully as they can become an investment over time and they can be worth hundreds of dollars on the collectable market.

When buying any of them always ensure that they are in their original boxes if possible and that they are sculptured well and the paint job is very good and clear. Do some research on fan forums and different sites as they will be very helpful in letting one know what is hot or what is not. Many people on these forums will go out of their way to steer one in the right direction once it has been established which figures to start collecting.

One can start by looking in the toy isles of toy stores but always keep in mind what your goal is. Websites that specialize in them will definitely only offer those in excellent condition and if any problem is found they will be willing to refund or exchange. Flea markets and thrift stores could also be a good place to pick them up but there is a chance the condition will not be of the best.
